Indecision is the enemy of career choices

The Mental Battleground

My client had finally been offered a way out—an escape from the toxic job that had drained her for years. On paper, the new role made sense: better hours, healthier culture, even a decent salary bump. But something about it didn’t sit right. It wasn’t the right fit, not where she saw herself growing. And so, she hesitated.

As days passed, her indecision began to feel just as suffocating as the environment she was trying to leave. Every moment spent weighing pros and cons became a mental battleground. Caught between two imperfect options, she became stuck—trapped by paralysis.

How Career Coaching Helped

That’s when she turned to me as a career coach. I’m someone outside the swirl of her own overthinking, who could help her cut through the noise in her head. I didn’t tell her what to choose—but helped her uncover what truly mattered to her. Through focused questions, values assessments, and option creation, she began to reconnect with her intuition to take a more objective approach.

She realised that indecision had been draining her energy more than either path would have. With clarity came relief, a weight off her shoulders—not just from choosing, but from finally trusting herself to move. I didn’t give her the answer. I gave her back her power to decide.

If indecision is a common challenge for you and you’re looking to make a career shift, then my structured Firework Career Coaching programme is a great option for you.
